Vintage Wooden Jewelry Box Upcycle
Share
These vintage wooden jewelry boxes were very popular "back in the day" and you can find them in pretty much every thrift store. They are generally well built and just need some love to make them look beautiful again.
The first step, of course, is to clean with TSP Alternative. This gets rid of dust and finger prints from years of use.
If the jewelry box is really shiny, just give it a light sand scuffing with a sanding block or sanding pad to help the paint adhere.
I use an extra small screw driver and take of door(s) off and then take the glass out of the door so that I can get a much more finished look. Make sure you put the screws in a little baggy or something because they're so small, it's easy to lose them!
Then I paint! I use Fusion Mineral Paint. It is my go to paint for any project. Two light coats is all that is needed. Wait 2 to 4 hours in between coats.
After the painting is done, I like to add some gold or copper pigments to some of the decorative areas to add some more beauty to the piece.
And voila! A newly upcycled jewelry box to be enjoyed for years to come. They make a beautiful and thoughtful gift as well!
