Vintage Pine Dresser Makeover

Vintage Pine Dresser Makeover

Vintage Pine Dresser Makeover in Carriage House & Ebony

Some pieces arrive in the shop looking a little rough around the edges—but that’s where the magic begins. This vintage pine dresser was covered in stickers, scratches, and dents, but I saw its potential hiding beneath the mess.

Prep & Repair: From Sticky to Stunning

The first step was removing all those stubborn stickers. I scraped them off and used vinegar to lift the sticky residue, then gave the entire piece—inside and out—a deep clean with TSP Alternative. That alone made a world of difference.

The top was badly worn, so I sanded it down to prep for staining. The edges, however, were dented and banged up pretty badly. Instead of trying to smooth them out, I leaned into the opportunity to add character. I applied WoodUbend Moulding around the edge, which instantly elevated the piece and gave it a custom, artisan feel.

Paint & Stain: A Harmonious Blend

For the body and trim, I chose Fusion Mineral Paint in Carriage House—a beautifully balanced mid-tone that dances between punchy green and serene grey. It’s charming, grounding, and perfect for this dresser’s revival.

I stained the top using Ebony Stain & Finishing Oil, which gave it a rich, dramatic contrast. To tie everything together, I did an Ebony stain wipe over the painted areas, adding depth and cohesion to the overall look.

New knobs were the finishing touch, and just like that, this dresser was reborn.

The Reveal

From sticker-covered chaos to a sophisticated showpiece, this dresser now feels timeless and full of personality. The mix of earthy tones, subtle sheen, and handcrafted details make it a standout in any space.
