Large Vintage Dresser Gets Blinged Up For A Client

💖 Pretty in Pink & Gold: A Nine-Drawer Dresser Makeover with Fusion Mineral Paint

When a customer tells you she loves pink and gold, you know the final result is going to be something special. This nine-drawer dresser had great structure and plenty of potential—it just needed a fresh, feminine touch to bring it to life.

Prep & Paint Wash

We started with the top of the dresser, removing the original finish using a scraper and sanding it down with 180 grit followed by 220 grit for a smooth surface. To keep the wood grain visible while softening the tone, I applied a paint wash using Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk, diluted at a 1:5 ratio with water. The result was a subtle, creamy base that set the tone for the rest of the piece.

Rose Water Elegance

After cleaning the rest of the dresser with TSP Alternative, I painted the body in Fusion’s Rose Water—a delicate blush pink that’s perfect for a romantic, vintage-inspired look. It pairs beautifully with Raw Silk and adds a soft pop of color without overwhelming the space.

Gold Leaf Glam

To elevate the piece and add a touch of luxury, I applied Gold Leaf to the top edging, leg fronts and drawer pulls. Using Gilding Glue, I carefully laid the leaf for a crisp, metallic accent that catches the light and complements the pink tones beautifully.

I had a gold gilding marker so I applied it to the drawer front decorative areas.

Final Finish

For added durability and a subtle sheen, I sealed the entire dresser with Ultra Guard Satin. This topcoat ensures the finish will hold up to everyday use while keeping the piece looking polished and professional.

This dresser makeover is a perfect example of how color, texture, and a few luxe details can completely transform a piece. Whether you're customizing for a client or refreshing your own furniture, Fusion Mineral Paint offers endless possibilities for creative expression.
