From Worn to Wonderful: Vintage End Tables Get a Sophisticated Update

Some furniture pieces are just too well-built to let go—and this solid wood set of vintage end tables was a perfect example. Though worn and tired-looking, they had great bones and deserved a fresh new look.

I started with a thorough clean using TSP Alternative, making sure every surface was free of dust and grime. Once prepped, I painted the tables in Fusion Mineral Paint Sterling, a cool neutral, this silver-grey crosses a number of design styles from traditional to contemporary to coastal. It's equal parts calming and refreshing.

After letting the paint cure for 24 hours, I applied Ebony Stain & Finishing Oil and gently wiped it back. The stain settled beautifully into the carved details, adding depth and contrast while enhancing the character of the design.

To finish the transformation, I spray painted the original hardware, tying the entire look together with a sleek, cohesive finish.

These end tables went from overlooked to outstanding—and they didn't stay in the store long before selling!
