Bold Meets Beautiful: A Vintage Cabinet Makeover in Renfrew Blue & Coal Black

Bold Meets Beautiful: A Vintage Cabinet Makeover in Renfrew Blue & Coal Black

Some vintage pieces just need a little imagination to shine again—and this old cabinet was ready for its moment. With a worn finish and dated details, it was the perfect candidate for a bold, creative refresh.

I started with a thorough clean inside and out using TSP Alternative, followed by sanding down any rough patches in the old paint. Once the surface was prepped, I knew I wanted to add a pop of personality—so I lined the interior and drawers with bright, colorful wallpaper that instantly brought the piece to life.

For the paint, I chose Fusion Mineral Paint in Renfrew Blue for the interior shelving and Coal Black for the exterior. The contrast between the vibrant blue and deep black created a striking, modern look while still honoring the cabinet’s vintage charm.

To elevate the design, I added WoodUbend trim around the glass doors, painted it in Coal Black, and dry brushed with Posh Chalk Gold Pigments for a subtle shimmer that catches the light beautifully.

The final touch? Black Porcelain Rose Knobs that added elegance and tied the whole look together.

This cabinet went from overlooked to outstanding—and it’s now a true statement piece ready to brighten any room.
