🦁 Regal Revival: A Vintage Highboy Dresser Gets a Bold New Look

Some pieces just need a little vision to go from forgettable to fabulous—and this vintage solid wood highboy dresser was the perfect candidate.

Structurally sound but visually stuck in the past, it featured plain wooden handles that gave it a dated, uninspired look. I removed them, filled in the holes, and got to work on a full refresh.

The top was sanded down to prep for staining, while the rest of the dresser got a deep clean with TSP Alternative. For the body, I chose Fusion Mineral Paint in Cathedral Taupe—a sophisticated taupe inspired by the architectural beauty of its namesake.Ā This goes-with-anything shade delights with a soft pink undertone.

To contrast the painted base, I stained the top in Cappuccino Stain & Finishing Oil, which added warmth and richness. The finishing touch? Bold lion head drawer pulls that brought a regal, eye-catching flair to the entire look.

This highboy went from bland to beautiful, proving once again that a little creativity can breathe new life into vintage furniture.
