🌱 Bright & Cheery Rocker Makeover: Moss Alchemy Meets Fresh Fabric

A Rocker With New Life
Upcycling this old rocker was such a fun project. I wanted to brighten it up with fresh fabric and a bold paint color.
Step 1: Stripping Away the Old Layers
The first task was removing three layers of worn‑out material. This rocker was reimagined at least three times before. One layer on top of the other!
Once I finally reached the old foam, I tossed it and cut a new piece of seat foam. I added batting to help keep the foam in place, stapling both securely onto the seat board.

Step 2: Fresh Upholstery
Next came the fabric. I picked a delightful, colorful piece that perfectly complemented the green paint I had in mind. After stapling it neatly in place, I finished the underside with a dust cover, giving the seat a clean, professional look.

Step 3: Painting With Moss Alchemy
With the seat complete, I turned my attention to the rocker’s frame. I took the newly upholstered seat over the the Alchemy display in the shop and instantly decided on Moss. Two coats of Moss transformed the wood into a lively, eye‑catching green.

Step 4: Sealing With Taupe Stain & Finishing Oil
Fusion's Alchemy is a Limestone and Chalk based paint that needs to be sealed with a top coat. To soften the boldness of the Moss, I decided to seal the paint with Taupe Stain & Finishing Oil. This toned down the color just enough and tied in beautifully with the taupe accents in the fabric. I love the way the stain sunk into the natural knots and crevices in the old wood of the rocker and highlighted these areas a bit.

The Final Result
The rocker now radiates warmth and cheer — proof that fall and winter doesn't have to be dull. With a little creativity, you can turn a tired piece into something bright, cozy, and full of personality.

✨ Takeaway: Don’t be afraid to mix bold paint colors with fresh fabrics. The right combination can breathe new life into old furniture and make it a highlight in your home.
