✨ From Worn to Wonderful: Cedar Chest Upcycle with Fusion Mineral Paint & Decor Transfers

Breathing New Life Into a Cedar Chest
When I came across this old cedar chest, I knew it had potential. Structurally, it was solid and in good shape, but years of use had left behind scratches and damaged veneer. With a little creativity and the right products, I set out to give it a fresh, elegant makeover.

Step 1: Deep Cleaning
The first step was a thorough scrub with TSP Alternative to remove dirt, grime, and residue. A clean surface is always the foundation of a successful upcycle.
Step 2: Repairing the Veneer
Next, I filled in the chipped and missing veneer with wood filler. Once dry, I sanded the surface smooth and wiped it down with a damp cloth to remove dust.
Step 3: Painting with Casement
For the finish, I chose Fusion Mineral Paint Casement, a crisp, classic white. Because I didn’t prime first, it took a few coats to cover the dark wood — but Fusion’s built‑in primer and topcoat made the process simple.

Step 4: Adding Decor Transfers
While the painted chest looked beautiful, I wanted to add a touch of personality. Using Redesign with Prima decor transfers, I applied elegant designs that gave the piece a unique, custom look.
The Final Reveal
The transformation was stunning. What began as a worn cedar chest became a bright, elegant storage piece with timeless appeal. The lady who purchased it was thrilled, and I know she’ll cherish it for years to come while using it to store her linens.

✨ Takeaway: Don’t overlook structurally sound furniture just because it shows signs of wear. With Fusion Mineral Paint and decor transfers, you can turn everyday pieces into cherished heirlooms.
