✨ From Dated to Dazzling: A Vintage Dresser Set Makeover with Fusion Mineral Paint Hazelwood & Gold Accents
Share
Some pieces just need a little love to shine again—and this vintage dresser set was no exception. Structurally, it was solid as a rock, but visually? It was stuck in a time warp.

Step 1: Deep Clean
I kicked things off with a thorough clean using TSP Alternative, inside and out. It’s my go-to for prepping surfaces and removing years of grime without harsh chemicals.
Step 2: Applying a Bonding Agent
Because the dressers had a very shiny surface, I decided to apply Ultra Grip Bonding Agent first to ensure good adhesion. This is applied with a brush or roller and should be left to dry for 24 hours before painting.
Step 3: A Fresh Coat of Hazelwood
Next came paint. I chose Fusion Mineral Paint Hazelwood for its soft, earthy elegance— This deep grey feels both warm and grounding. It can create dimension as an
accent or make a dramatic statement.

Step 4: WoodUbend Trim for Texture & Charm
Some of the edges were a bit scuffed, so I added WoodUbend trim to elevate the look and disguise imperfections. These mouldings are a dream to work with and instantly add character. You simply heat them up with a heat gun or in the case of large rolls of trim, I use an electric griddle lined with tinfoil. Once the roll of trim is heated enough, it unravels and is easily secured with wood glue and the edges trimmed with a sharp blade.
Step 5: Golden Touches
The original handles were too unique to replace, so I cleaned them thoroughly and gave them a glam upgrade with Posh Chalk gold pigments. I used the same pigments to dry brush the WoodUbend trim and highlight the metal legs—tying the whole look together with subtle shimmer.

💖 Final Thoughts
I’m thrilled with how this set turned out. It’s no longer just functional—it’s a statement set that brings charm and personality to any bedroom. Proof that with a little creativity, even the most dated furniture can become a showstopper.
