🐦 Light, Bright & Beautiful: A Custom Cabinet Makeover with Bluebird Charm

When a customer asked me to refresh her kitchen cupboards, she also had a cherished cabinet she wanted updated. The original dark wood felt heavy in her space, and she envisioned something lighter, softer, and full of charm—with a touch of bluebird whimsy to tie in with her décor.

I began with a thorough clean using TSP Alternative to prep the surface. Then I carefully removed the intricate wooden door panels—secured with tiny finishing nails—so they could be painted separately. With a little patience, they came out beautifully and were easy to reinstall after painting.

For the base color, she chose Fusion Mineral Paint  Sterling, a cool grey neutral, with equal parts calming and refreshing.

Once the paint was dry, I added some pieces of a Redesign with Prima decor transfer that my client loved to bring in a delicate pop of color and personality.

To finish it off, I applied Posh Chalk gold pigments to the hardware, and some of the wood trim at her request, adding just the right amount of shimmer and elegance.

The result? A custom cabinet that feels fresh, light, and perfectly tailored to her space. She was thrilled with the transformation—and I was too!
